Doing so requires the shipper’s company to hold a “Competent Authority” (“CA”) approval from the US Department of Transportation that is specific to shipping prototype lithium batteries by air. The approval also lists specific requirements that must be met before the shipment can be offered for transportation. This includes limited testing, labeling, packaging, etc.
